Dr. A. Mandrekas graduated from the Medical School of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki in 1975, while in the same year he graduated from the Military Medical School and joined the staff of the Navy, where he served until 1995, and retired with the rank of Captain. In 1981 he receives the title of General Surgery after four years of training at the Naval Hospital of Athens, Elpis and Evangelismos.
In 1984 he receives the specialty title of Plastic Surgery in Great Britain having worked at Queen Victoria Hospital, East Grinstead, UK – Queen Mary’s Hospital, Roehamton, UK – Saint Thoma’s Hospital, London, UK, and in 1985 he receives an honorary doctorate from the Medical School of the University of Athens. From 1984-1985 he completed his postgraduate training in the USA (New York – Springfield & Norfolk). Visiting Professor at New York University and the University of Springfield Illinois.
Founder and Director of the Plastic Surgery Clinic of the Naval Hospital of Athens for 9 consecutive years (1986-1995), he has trained a large number of plastic surgeons, while at the same time he has authored 7 books in Greek.
