The elasticity and youthfulness of the skin owes a lot to hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid is present in all living tissues and is a natural component of the human body. Chemically, it is a high molecular weight polysaccharide and its most important biological action is to absorb and retain water.

There are several formulations commercially available, of varying concentration and content of hyaluronic acid. Preference is given to those produced by biosynthesis rather than those of animal origin, because they are well tolerated by the body and do not cause allergic reactions (no allergy test is required).
These are crystalline, transparent, micro-particles of gel, stabilised hyaluronic acid, which give a ‘natural’ volume. The particles are absorbed slowly and as the gel breaks down, water takes its place. Absorption is complete, with no residue.
The application is done with a small syringe and applied topically without pain. The duration of each session is approximately 10 minutes.
Contraindicated in verified hypersensitivity to hyaluronic acid, in autoimmune diseases.
Usually after treatment there may be redness and sensitivity of the skin, but these are transient and subside in 1-2 hours.
The results are impressive, providing firmness to the skin and restoring the lost youthfulness of the face. Depending on the skin type, area and amount of implantation and the technique used, results can last from 6-9 months.
